Long time collaborators Roy Rose, Phil Harmonics and Bernie Smith have come together as Rose & The Thorns to play this Dark Alley Sessions in Port Macquarie. Bringing their own brand of Blues and Folk music to the table.
Roy Rose is a retired singer songwriter from the Mid North Coast of NSW. His old mate Phil Harmonics managed to convince Rose to come out of hibernation for this one-off live performance for the Dark Alley Sessions, accompanied by local guitar legend Bernie Smith... Rose & The Thorns was born. This is truly a legendary and special event, that will not be repeated.
Rose’s musical heart still beats. The room was filled with that special kind of magical chemistry as the swamp triplets banded together in their mesmerising blues explosion, that comes with two decades of spirited and intense live performance. It was evident the swagger was back!
Rose has played alongside The Beards, The Mason Rack Band, Tex Perkins and Charlie Owen from The Cruel Sea, Taylor Henderson, Jeff Martin from The Tea Party, Kay Temperley (Eskimo Joe), Ben Gumbleton, Sleepmakeswaves, Montaigne and Blue King Brown. Phil Harmonic’s has accompanied him on many of these shows. They are truly soul brothers.
Rose & Thorns deliver their trademark sound via a mix of acoustic and electric elements, harmonica, guitars and a vocal style that draws inspiration from Blues and Roots legends from yesteryear.
